CARE

is a hugely successful international relief agency that works in nearly 90 countries. Founded in 1945, CARE is nonsectarian, impartial, and non-governmental. As they say: “implementing long-term programs to fight poverty, responding to humanitarian emergencies, and advocating for policy change to improve the lives of the poorest people.” They deal with heart-rending problems with dignity and integrity.

As a recovering Catholic, my discovery of early Christianity as a field of scholarship and the evident disconnect between the historical and devotional approaches to the New Testament intrigued me.
